This email is mostly housekeeping—but there’s a bit of entertainment at the end, so you can either skip ahead or soldier on!
Progress Report
It’s been exactly 30 days since I committed to 30 day’s worth of maximum effort on the Exploration Project. But I’ve only done about half of what I hoped, so spending another two weeks seems reasonable.
In the meantime, here’s a progress update:
My first goal was to add content on the site and send out email on a regular schedule. I’m giving myself high marks on that one.
My second goal was to reach out to potential readers, and make EP easier to find. On this one I’ve done quite a bit of preparation—but it’s mostly not operational yet. I just didn’t have a good sense of how many moving parts would be involved.
The big achievement in this category so far has been setting up a Facebook page (aaaaarggghhh). It actually exists now, and looks like this:
I want to add more posts before inviting people in general—but I have sent invites to a few of you who are already on the EP mailing list.
The main purpose for the page is to engage readers who might recognize my name but haven’t found this newsletter. It may also attract some readers who would like the EP approach—but there’s already so much about Tarot on Facebook, and I’m not sure another page will get noticed much.
So mostly I’ll just be putting links to the content that’s shared here (and on Medium).
By now you may have noticed that the Facebook page has a different name. Turns out that the phrase “Tarot explorations” and “exploring Tarot” are way over-used in social media. I thought the “ten doors” concept might stand out a bit more—and it also offers a sort of organizational structure.
I’ve thought about changing the name of this newsletter to match, but I’m not sure whether that would be a good idea. If anyone has an opinion, I’d love to hear!
Not yet done in the outreach category: submitting EP to newsletter directories. But I’ve created a graphic and a description, so the next steps are just rote. I’ll complete that process in the next couple of days.
I’ve almost finished a landing page for the Tarot surveys. With its own domain name! Will share more in the Tuesday newsletter.
Finally . . . sending the ten Daily Notes emails was a great exercise in consistency for me. Thanks to all of you who opened them. I’ll be sending one more tomorrow, looking at convergences of the ten pathways.
Tiny Treat
I came across an article in which seven writers talk about how they use Tarot. Their interests are not merely or even primarily “literary”—and in fact, I think most of the ten doors are represented somewhere in the discussion. See if you can spot them all!
Thanks as always. Daily Note #11 tomorrow, newsletter on Tuesday. C
